Torri del Benaco has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by cave drawings found around the surrounding hills. Later, it became an important Roman town and received it current name "castrum turrium", Fortress of the Towers.
The local economy is based primarily on tourism, although is still important the cultivation of olive trees, producing a valuable oil.
